Did you watch The Antiques Road Show from Glasgow on Sunday? Charles
Rennie Mackintosh was a big feature of the opening of the programme. This Glasgow born architect, designer and artist is famous for his Art Nouveau style in buildings, furniture, and interior decoration. Buildings such as The Glasgow School of Art or The Willow Tea Rooms are well known but we can see his work closer to home at 78, Derngate, Northampton.
Mackintosh designs are still very popular. Look for them in furniture, lighting, fabrics, china, even wrapping paper and most often in jewellery. So for this month’s competition we want you to bring something with a Rennie Mackintosh design. No prizes but we love to see what amazing items appear sometimes!
Would you like to know more about Rennie Mackintosh and why is he is described as a ‘Fallen Genius’? Come to WI at St Leonards Parish Hall. All are welcome (including gentlemen).
